“Urawa Red Diamonds”was founded in March, 1992. Originally is culture club of Nakanihon Industrial established in 1950. Then, it became part of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd., and has played an active part as a distinguished family club of a Japanese Soccer League (JSL). Since it will become the MITSUBISHI MOTORS CORP football club 1990.
When a professional football league would be founded in Japan, club
became a professional and participated in league from the first, and moved
to Urawa from Tokyo. And furthermore,the name changed to "Urawa Red
Diamonds" in 1996. It is called the "Urawa Reds" from the
time of foundation.

※Urawa-city merged with Yono and Omiya on May 1, 2001, and it become "Saitama
City " now. "Urawa" remains as a name of an administrative
district of Saitama-city. |
